Windows Live Writer

While not normally wnating to give succour to Microsoft, I am going to try out this new tool they are offering. At the moment it looks a bit like a DTP program but will reserve judgement.

Here is what the interface looks like.

  1. Hi Bob,
I’ve not used Live Writer as I’ve nowhere to install it, but I tested a few desktop blog apps but never settled on one. I do think there are useful ways to use the weblog apis (which these tools use) to simplify blogging for children. I’ve tested some appleScript solutions (eg from iphoto and Adam sent me a applescript to blog screenshots from Google Earth. Unfortunately we don’t have macs at school and can’t install Live Writer at the moment on networked computers. I am hoping both these things will be changing soon.

  2. David Muir put me onto Performancing for Firefox which I have not really used either, but will have to try both of them in the future!

I had not thought of these tools for younger bloggers, but in the New Year i am hoping to working with primary school bloggers so I will definitely bear this in mind.

  3. Hi Bob,
I am thinking that desktop apps could get round the password and image upload problems some young folk have. Make the tools transparent.
Please keep me up to date with your primary blogging.
All the best for Christmas and the New Year.

  4. Live Writer did not like having the picture last. I needed to put a line of text in , so that it was contained within the post. At the moment I cannot see a way of using it to reply to comments. But that may not be so much of a problem.

I will keep trying and will certainly keep you informed of how I get on, John.

All the best for Christmas and the New Year.
